Yonex Japan Open 2012: Hu Yun trounces Takuma Ueda to stretch his winning streak – Badminton news
Hong Kong’s in-form shuttler Hu Yun stretched his winning run and reached into Men’s Singles quarter-final after trouncing his local challenger Takuma Ueda in round-of-16 battle at Yonex Japan Open 2012 on Thursday, September 20, at Tokyo, Japan.
The World Number 16 Yun, who reached in the final of Li Ning China Masters Super Series last week, continued his staggering performance on court and thrashed Takuma in a dominating fashion without putting in extra effort.
Yun was on a different level as he played flawless badminton against Takuma and remained successful in ending up the contest in two games with a superb margin by taking just 30 minutes on court.
In the meanwhile, the lower ranked Japanese shuttler played to his maximum potential but failed to find a good rhythm on court and eventually became a prey to his Hong Kong rival without taking any set.
In the first game, Yun did not take much time in setting up an early lead as he was fully focused on court and pushed his Japanese opponent in all areas.
The in-form Hong Kong player employed his powerful smashes and superb net shots and managed to take an 11-7 lead until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Takuma also lifted up his level of play by accelerating his speed at net and remained successful in making the score equal at 11-11.
However, Yun accelerated speed in all areas and started to push his rival on back foot. He played at the same speed all the way to take the opening set of this pre-quarter-final battle with a 21-12 score on the board.
Takuma played good badminton in opening points of second game and remained close until the score reached at 7-7.
Yun played aggressive game at this stage and got a strong position by taking an 11-7 lead until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Yun continued showing his elevated craft on court and he bagged the second set with a stunning difference of 21-10.
The impressive Yun emerged as victorious in this straight-set clash in just 30 minutes with a 21-12 and 21-10 score on the board.
