Yonex Japan Open 2012: Wong Wing Ki topples Rajiv Ouseph in Men’s Singles first round
Hong Kong’s Wong Wing Ki started his journey in a fabulous fashion as he easily registered his mark over England’s Rajiv Ouseph in Men’s Singles first round at Yonex Japan Open 2012 on Wednesday, September 19, at Tokyo, Japan.
The World Number 22 Wing Ki, who has been playing remarkable badminton for the last six months, put up wonderful display of aggressive badminton and managed to thrash his lower ranked English rival in a controlled and authoritative manner.
Wing Ki was in smashing form as he played flawless badminton and remained successful in winning this Men’s Singles clash in a crushing fashion as he finished up the battle in straight games with a one-sided margin on the board.
The World Number 23 Rajiv, on the other hand, got a severe treatment from his Hong Kong opponent. He failed to play his normal game and remained unable to put even meagre resistance against the power play of his rival and crashed out without showing a considerable performance.
In the first game, Wing Ki was in wonderful form as he played with remarkable control and precision and easily created pressure on his rival at the early stage.
The higher ranked Hong Kong shuttler played attacking badminton without losing his focus at any stage in the game and remained successful in taking an amazing lead until the end of opening half.
After the one-minute break, Wing Ki continued impressing the crowd with his tremendous play as he showed no mercy to his challenger and remained ahead on score board all the way to take the set with a 21-11 score on the board.
Nevertheless, Rajiv played slightly positive badminton as he played with aggression in opening points but he failed to remain consistent and remained behind on score board until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Wing Ki continued playing in the similar fashion without showing any sign of confusion and managed to clinch the second game with a reasonable score of 21-17.
Wing Ki tamed Rajiv in straight sets in just 30 minutes with a crushing 21-11 and 21-17 score on the board.
