Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open: Cai Yun and FU Haifeng claim Men’s Doubles title – Badminton news
China’s experienced player and ruling Olympic Champions Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng remained successful in delivering a remarkable performance as they claimed Men’s Doubles title at Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open 2012, which ended on Sunday, November 25, in Hong
Kong.
In the final encounter, Yun and Haifeng showed a great performance and toppled their Malaysian rivals Kien Keat Koo and Boon Heong Tan without facing any considerable trouble on court.
The World Number Nine Yun and Haifeng, who could not put up strong show in the last couple of tournaments and also lost their number one position in the Men’s Doubles world rankings.
However, the Chinese duo showed a great comeback and remained successful in winning the crown in the most dominating fashion.
Yun and Haifeng were in remarkable form and they played with confidence in the arena. They showed a great performance and controlled the pace when it mattered most, finishing it in straight games with a margin of 21-16 and 21-17.
On the other hand, the World Number Two and top seeded Kien Keat and Boon Heong played well but not enough to stop their Chinese opponents from grabbing a straight-set victory in 43 minutes.
In the first set, the amazing speed and attacking shots of Yun and Haifeng kept them in complete control of the pace of rallies from starting points.
However, the Malaysians also gave a wonderful fight and stayed close until the end of opening half.
After the one-minute interval, the matched progressed in the similar fashion as both sides kept the pace of rallies very high and the score reached at 15-15.
At this stage, Yun and Haifeng became aggressive and they executed powerful smashes form back of the court and destroyed the defence of their rivals, claiming the set with a comfortable score of 21-16.
In the second game, Yun and Haifeng played better badminton as they controlled the pace of rallies from the starting points and remained successful in taking a reasonable lead until the break.
After the interval, the Chinese duo continued playing positive badminton and did not let their opponents to level the score at any stage. They easily managed to end up the set with a reasonable score of 21-17.
