Yonex Welsh International 2012: Tien Chen Chou tames Kuan Beng Hong to bag Men’s Singles title
Chinese Taipei’s spirited shuttler Tien Chen Chou made his presence strongly felt as he bagged Men’s Singles title after crushing Malaysia’s Kuan Beng Hong in final encounter of Yonex Welsh International 2012 in Wales, on Sunday, December 2.
The higher ranked Tien Chen, who was the top seed in Men’s Singles draw of Welsh International, continued his roller-coaster run in the arena and remained successful in crushing Kuan Beng in a lopsided fashion.
Taipei shuttler was in staggering form as he did not lose his focus at any stage in the title match and thrashed his lower ranked Malaysian challenger in straight sets with a huge margin in just 29 minutes.
On the other hand, the un-seeded Kuan Beng could not put up strong resistance and also failed to maintain a good rhythm in the arena. He tried his best to stop the progress of his Taipei challenger but failed to manage it and lost the battle in a one-sided
manner.
In the first game, Tien Chen delivered impressive performance by playing attacking and positive badminton and took over the control of the game quite easily.
Top seeded Tien Chen progressed with a superb speed in the starting half and remained in lead on score board until the interval.
The underdog Kuan Beng failed to play positive game after the one-minute break as he lost his focus in the arena.
Taipei shuttler did not reduce the pace of the game at any stage and remarkable grabbed the first set with a reasonable 21-15 score on the board.
In the second game, the lower ranked Kuan Beng was again in problem as he faced a hostile treatment from his Taipei rival who was at his best form in the arena.
Tien Chen displayed his incredible skills without showing any respect to his Malaysian challenger and kept a firm grip over the pace of rallies.
After the one-minute break, the lofty Tien Chen continued his comfortable run by playing flawless badminton and easily clinched the set by a comprehensive margin of 21-13.
The in-form Taipei shuttler grabbed the Men’s Singles title in a scintillating fashion as he won the final battle with a staggering 21-15 and 21-13 total on the board.
