Yoo Yeon Seong, Jang Ye Na move forward to quarter-final round – Korea Open Update
Mixed Doubles partners Yoo Yeon Seong and Jang Ye Na forged a fruitful chemistry and reserved a seat in the quarter-final round of Korea Grand Prix Gold on December 6, 2012.
They intercepted Cheng Ling Tsai-Hsin h*i Huang of Chinese Taipei with a favourable result of 21-8 and 21-12.
This short-lived battle took place in the local badminton arena of Hwasun-gun, Korea and a huge crowd gathered to support the native shuttlers.
World Number 11 partnership of Yeon Seong and Ye Na did not disappoint their country fellows and gave them a solid reason to celebrate by sealing a straight-set victory.
Throughout this pre quarter-final match, they were everywhere on the court and their grip never got weakened.
The Korean campaigners started the beating from very stroke in the opening game and played with this aggressive approach all the way to game point situation.
Yeon Seong and Ye Na gained an immediate advantage with couple of productive rallies and then doubled the lead by adding few consecutive points in their total.
They finished first half of the set with an indomitable figure of 11 and this significant advantage helped them to keep the opposing team at lower end in latter part of the game.
Though, Cheng Ling and Hsin h*i ruled the court in few rallies but their fluctuated performance brought them down.
The Taipei shuttlers failed to rise when it was needed and knelt down after reading 8-21 score on the board.
Next game was also played in similar manner as the twosome of Yeon Seong and Ye Na did not lose their grip at any stage and locked the honour in a splendid fashion.
The Korean players laid foundation of their dominance by clinching valuable points in a row and then strengthened their grip with some back-to-back productive rallies.
They placed a significant margin of 11 before the interval and capitalised this lead to widen the gap in third quarter of the set. They maintained a notable difference of nine points and swept the table with 21-12 total.
Now Yeon Seong and Ye Na will test their skills against Lee Sang Joon-Kim So Young in the quarter-finals of this GP Gold event.
