Question:

York Ebor Meeting abandoned, how do you feel?

Just read on Racing Post that the whole York Ebor meeting has been abandoned. We have all missed out on some great racing and the course, trainers and owners alike have lost out big time.

Do you think this could affect performances of top horses such as Duke of Marmalade for the Arc and how has this affected you i.e. did you take time off work to watch or go to the meeting?

It's very disappointing. Having said that, if the meeting had gone ahead on that sort of ground we would probably have had some very strange results and the bookies would have cleaned up.

I don't think it's affected the Duke's chances for the Arc. I'd have hated to see him have a hard race on unsuitably soft ground.

I took a week off from running my Amstrad business empire. I've only gone and left my new apprentice in charge!

  2. Sad but relieved (of no money).

  3. Hello,

I have tried many watch online sites but you usually end up paying for it eventually.

But this one is totally free http://www.mrnicheproducts.com/movies/

    Enjoy.

  4. As with businesses - you go step by step - goal by goal - race by race. Duke of Marmalade whom I put up as being ready to start his current run at big odds would not have been inconvenienced by the going and no trainer would run a horse on going that may damage it's future prospects.

Whilst I was looking forward to that race in particular, the Ballydoyle team will have a training scheme to have him spot on for the big one.

  5. firstly, group 1 form on heavy ground means you often see group 1 horses get beat by horses that it would usually bury.the ground makes the distances between each horse(usually many lengths) look like a 3 mile chase as just happened in a 1m2f flat race.

secondly ,i feel that this could benefit DOM as he as now ran in 4 group 1's in a pretty short space of time and he was in danger of going stale come arc time due to a hard season..DOM though imo isn't the best arc prospect even though he is probably the best horse around.he as been purposely kept busy running in top 1m2f-4f races because of the fast ground that normally occurs in the summer.he is top class on firm gound but even his trainer isn't so sure on easy ground that normally is at longchamp in october, hence why he as gone for the big summer target, otherwise he could of kept him fresh with fewer runs and given him a proper arc campaign and hope it is firm going come October.to me soldier of fortune is a horse who prefers easy going and looks to be campaigned with the arc in mind as he hasn't run since early june(a typical french arc winner usually as the summer off and comes back for the arc trials in september)

  6. Very disappointing news.... but it just goes to show you that you can't predict anything....

I also heard that they are in talks with the BHA, to try and re-schedule some of the feature races elsewhere in the very near future.  But it just wont be the same...

Like you say, some of the races are a very good indication of future races, such as the Arc.  With the Ebor not taking place, guess it just makes form reading for these races that much harder...
