York Glory to sweep the William Birch & Sons Construction Stakes (Handicap) at York
York will become home for the Class 2 William Birch & Sons Construction Stakes (Handicap) over six furlongs on Wednesday, 16th May. The line-up assembled for the race includes twenty candidates.
One of the entries who is racing his seasonal debut today has raced and won at York just during the previous season. York Glory, Five Star Day’s four-year-old grey colt out of mare, Minicolony, raced at York for the first time on 20th August over five furlongs in the Tyregiant.Com Stakes (Handicap).
He was the 5/2 favourite winner and led the field by 2 ¼ lengths while riding with Kieren Fallon. Dickie’s Lad settled as the runner up and was followed by Oor Jock.
Ever since then, today will be the second time that York Glory will race at York and it will mark his seasonal debut.
Another entry who is up for the seasonal debut today is Kaldoun Kingdom, King’s Best’s seven-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Bint Kaldoun. He raced at York three times during the previous season but failed dreadfully in the first two races there.
On 13th May, he ended fifteenth on the track of twenty while on 21st May, Kaldoun Kingdom finished fifteenth on the field invaded by nineteen.
On 8th October, he qualified as the runner up in the Coral Sprint Trophy (Handicap) at York over six furlongs. The race was won by the 13/2 favourite, Sirius Prospect, who led by 2 ¼ lengths with Shane Kelly onboard.
Completing the trip third behind the winner was Racy.
His final racing experience during the previous season was at Doncaster and the result was not very encouraging.
The last time that the seven-year-old won, he lined up three wins in a row and struck a hat trick but now it has been a long while since he posted a victory.
The line-up is versatile in a manner that some are racing their seasonal debuts while the rest are extending the number of races during the current season. The two who are relatively more experienced when it comes to racing at York, will be racing after a long break and thus can be threatening for each other and the rest of the contestants.
