I want to upgrade my units eventually. I have two units, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. I can't decipher the sticker on the units. How many tons and what is the seer rating? http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb50/tmurset/DSCF1125.jpg

Also, can I just replace the condenser units to the higher SEER rating or do I have to replace everything?

  1. 3 ton 12 SEER

You will have to match the indoor to the outdoor SEER rating.

This is to get optimal effeciency out of your new outdoor unit.

Not at first if you don't want too but when you replace the indoor unit, match it to the outdoor unit SEER rating preferably at least a 14 or 16 for both.

Notice the 36 in the number. What that tells you is 36000 btu's and there are 12000 btu's per ton making it a 3 ton.

  2. air handlers make the seer of today's systems, a 13 seer condenser with the right air handler can be 15 seer system.
