The former Manchester United striker has defended the England star; after Fabio Capello claimed that he ‘only spoke Scottish’.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 has been made the scapegoat by the press and most of the pundits for the Three Lions’ woeful campaign in the European Championships. The forward was expected to be the team’s main man, but was suspended for the opening two games.
Roy Hodgson’s men somehow grinded out a draw with the French and then came out on top against the Swedes. In the last group game, Rooney returned and was hailed by fans after scoring the winner on the night.
However against the Italians in the quarter-final, the coach’s defensive tactics seemingly restricted him to chasing wayward long balls and opposing centre-backs. While the side held on till extra-time, Andrea Pirlo and co. condemned them to defeat on penalties
and sent them home reeling.
After the tournament, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson.
Following the comments, Roy Hodgson defended his star striker and lambasted his predecessor for his tirade. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dwight-Yorke-c11775, who enjoyed a sensational career in Manchester, has now also defended the former Evertonian, claiming the he himself didn’t understand
‘Scottish’ either.
He also voiced his opinion on racism, saying that the situation had improved quite a lot since his playing days.
"I don't understand Scottish either! I think Rooney said something and Capello replied to it. There's not much more to it than that. I have lived in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 for 24 years. Football has gone a long way in rooting out racism. There are still some incidents
but I'm pretty sure Fifa are looking into it.  I think it is being taken very seriously,” he said.
Lastly, he compared the current United strike-force to that of his own time, claiming that the likes of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer far better than those players plying their trade at the club these days.
"Ours was better! http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-Welbeck-c10233 has a lot of potential and will keep getting better while he's linking up well with Rooney. Hernandez hasn't enjoyed the same sort of form he did in his first season but hopefully he will push on next season.”
With the spot-light on Rooney at the moment, Ferguson has chosen to send the attacker on a three week vacation before he re-joins his teammates at Carrington for pre-season training.
