Jacques Rudolph and Gary Ballance struck quick half-centuries to take Yorkshire to a respectable 40 overs total of 234 for 7, in a Clydesdale Bank 40 clash against Derbyshire, underway at the Queen’s Park, Chesterfield.

The next man to go was Rudolph, who got stumped by Poynton off Tom Knight’s delivery. During his 98-minute stay at the crease, the Yorkshire captain scored 75 runs from 81 balls, including eight boundaries and a six.
