Yorkshire sign David Miller for T20 – Cricket News Update
English county, Yorkshire, have confirmed the signing of young South African batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/David-Lawson-Miller-c53037, for their Friends Life T20 campaign, which will begin from June 15 away at Headingley.
The 22-year-old will be available for all of Yorkshire’s T20 matches and comes in as their second overseas player following the recruitment of Australian promising left-armer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-Aaron-Starc-c76392, who has made a significant impact this term since joining the struggling outfit last month.
Despite his tender age, Miller is well respected in the T20 circuit, having played for the national team and most recently, in the lucrative Indian Premier League with Kings XI Punjab. Since making his international debut in 2010, the left-hander has played in 8T20s, scoring 153 runs, while has further appeared in 16 ODI games, scoring 267 including two scores in excess of fifty.
His most recent outing came in the IPL, where he represented the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867 team, considering that he will be available for all season.
The player recently missed out from the national side group, which will travel to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in July this year, his knowledge of the conditions could help him get a place in the limited-overs side.
Yorkshire director of cricket, Martyn Moxon said that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Miller-c76318’s aggressive batting style will suit his team well as they look to improve on their FLT20 journey where they have yet to reach to the quarter final stage since 2007.
"David is available for the whole tournament which made him an attractive proposition," http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Martyn-Douglas-Moxon-c74955 said. "You look at his strike-rate, he averages 120-plus per 100 balls, and in the Indian Premier League he's been scoring at 150-plus.He's that explosive type of player we've been looking for. I'm excited by the squad we've assembled for this campaign."
Ironically, the clubs first game pits Miller against his old team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Durham-c782, for whom he scored 212 runs in 13 matches last season.
