Yorkshire turns to Mitchell Starc – Cricket News Update
English county Yorkshire is contemplating on a move for Australia’s upcoming young fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-Aaron-Starc-c76392 as they seek to bolster their bowling resources, along with rescuing their County Championship status.
Currently languishing in middle table after just one Championship Division 2 game against Kent, their showings however, were not up to par – earning a hard fought draw after being enforced a follow on.
This has certainly led their coach and former Australian pacer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jason-Neil-Gillespie-c66461, to look for reinforcement early in the season, who has touted Starc as the ideal man for the task of leading the Yorkshire attack.
The left-armer has the ability to swing the ball and is best suited to the English conditions. After making his International debut late last year against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, the 22-year-old has featured in two more longer version games but remains behind in the
pecking order to the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Pattinson-c1653 for the national team.
In the current on-going Australian tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, Starc has yet to get a game and it is likely that he will cut a frustrated figure on the Aussie dressing room for the third and final Test, scheduled to take place from April 23.
Despite rumours, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Martyn-Douglas-Moxon-c74955, revealed that there was ‘nothing definite’, mainly due to the precarious financial position of the county, but admitted that they are working on bringing in a quality overseas player for the
remainder of their County Championship campaign.
“We are looking at a few options and I'm hoping that something might happen in the next few days. At the moment, however, we've got nothing definite. The problem with trying to sign an overseas player is that the process, invariably, is never straightforward,”
Moxon said.
"It was in our thoughts anyway to look for an overseas player, but I think that has been probably stepped up a bit after the first game. We weren't at our best with the ball against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kent-c802. The lads are working hard and trying very hard, but we have struggled
to maintain that pressure with the ball."
Yorkshire will play their next game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Essex-c783 at Leeds from April 19th.
