Yorkshire v Leicestershire - County Championship Division Two - Day 2 - Live Score and Update
Yorkshire 447 v Leicestershire 116 & 3/1 (f/o) (2.0 ov) - Leicestershire trail by 328 runs with 9 wickets remaining
In the current season of the County Championship Division Two, four-day match between Yorkshire and Leicestershire, the Yorks left everyone baffled by staggering an astounding total of 447 runs in their first innings against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Leicestershire-c807 and then bowling out the opposition well before the end of the day’s play, enforcing them to follow on, at North Marine Road Ground, Scarborough on May 03.
The day started with Yorkshire resuming their first innings from 329 runs for the loss of five wickets with JM Bairstow standing tall on a massive tally of 141 and A McGrath just a run away from a well played half century.
Leicestershire could not have imagined what these two batsmen were about to pull as they belted away the bowlers with zeal and confidence, adding fuel to the miseries of the fielding side.
Bairstow after jamming a knock of 182 runs became the first causality of the day after taking the side to a stinging total of 376 runs.
While all other batsmen chipped in, it was McGrath’s innings that really mattered as he stamped a 90-run knock before walking back to the pavilion.
Later, Leicestershire finally managed to wrap-up http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867’s first innings with Wayne White as their best bowler by taking five wickets.
However, their batsmen looked amateurish as Yorkshire unleashed superb bowling, grabbing wickets at almost random which prevented the batting side from actually taking off.
By the time they had put 33 runs on the board, they had already lost four of their main wickets with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jacques-Du-Toit-c65245 perishing without scoring a run.
Later, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Joshua-Cobb-c1739 was a lone warrior from his side, who actually tried to give the bowlers a hard time, but he also faltered after scoring an innings of 29 runs, nonetheless, that still made him the highest scorer from his side as the rest of the batsmen faltered without putting up much of a show.
Consequently, the side could bolster only 116 runs and were asked to follow on, but suffered a similar fate as they lost one wicket for three runs before the end of the day’s play.
Yorkshire are in a very strong position in this contest and should not face any problems in taking the game.
