Despite the fall of one early wicket, Yorkshire managed to gain momentum in the innings with a splendid second wicket partnership of 85 runs between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jacques-Rudolph-c1619 and Bairstow.
The former was unable to make most of the start he got to his innings and was sent back to the pavilion after adding 40 runs to the total from 50 balls with the help of five boundaries.
However, a century stand between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Anthony-McGrath-c45053 and Bairstow put the visitors in a very solid position. The pair guided the team’s total closer to 200 before McGrath was dismissed after collecting 63 runs from 60 balls.
Bairstow got out after scoring a magnificent century. He ended up with 114 runs off 87 balls, clobbering nine fours and three thunderous sixes.
Gary Ballance’s unbeaten 34 off 24 balls guided the team to 275/4 in the end, as none of the Middlesex bowlers managed to cause a lot of problems for the opposition. Steven Crook did a decent job though, picking up one wicket in his spell.
In reply, the Middlesex team did not get off to an ideal start, losing openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Scott-Newman-c2467 early. The innings was given some momentum by Stirling, who collected a quick fire 68 runs off 47 balls with the help of 10 fours and 1 massive six.
However, wickets kept on tumbling, which did not allow the hosts to settle down. A couple of run-outs in the innings also put the Middlesex team under immense pressure.
There was some fight back from lower-order player http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Steven-Paul-Crook-c91337, who smashed 61 runs from 40 deliveries towards the end of the innings. He failed to guide his side to victory though, getting out in the death overs.
