http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yossi-Benayoun-c37520, the Chelsea midfielder, has revealed he is looking forward to working under new manager Roberto Di Matteo after returning from his loan spell with Arsenal.
It was under Andre Villas-Boas that Benayoun was loaned out to the Gunners for the entire season, during which time there have been many changes at the London side, the most important one being the sacking of the Portuguese boss and the appointment of former
assistant manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo as the caretaker manager.
Under the Italian manager Chelsea went on to win the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League trophy for the very first time. After which a few important players were confirmed to have left Stamford Bridge and a few were also brought in; http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marko-Marin-c24198 and Eden
Hazard.
Benayoun now returns to pre-season training with the Blues after spending a season on loan at the Emirates Stadium. He confirmed he had indeed returned to Stamford Bridge for pre-season training, squashing rumours linking him with a move away.
He expressed regret at Villas-Boas failing to remain in charge of the club, but felt the Blues had done extremely well to secure a Cup double. Benayoun revealed in an interview:
“Now I am back at Chelsea for pre-season, the hard part of football, and I'm trying to do my best in front of Robbie, so we will just have to see what happens in the future.
A lot has happened since I was last here. Unfortunately it didn't work out with Andre Villas-Boas, results weren't good enough but Robbie took the team, and we won the FA Cup and Champions League. I kept in touch and it was just great to see the club
winning these trophies.”
Benayoun made 19 appearances for Arsenal in the English Premier League and scored four goals during that time. He revealed he had had a great time with the Gunners and was pleased that both Arsenal and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 had a decent term.
He said:
“First of all the most important thing was that I enjoyed my time with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, and football-wise, I can separate the season into two parts.”
