  1. If it has a better net present value then yes.  If not, no.

  2. I'm having an 8,000 gallon tank put in under my backyard to catch rainwater to use for everything but the kitchen sink.   It will save me money in about 5 years and lessen the need for over chlorinated water to be pumped from the local river to my house.     Fresh rainwater is much healthier for showers too.

  3. Yes I would pay more for it because if it's done well it saves you more money in the long run.  I would want to have solar panels for heating the house and the water, I would want low flow faucets and showers and toilets.  I would want a rain water collection system and  a place to compost to limit the amount of garbage not to mention a complete recycle center.  HGTV has a green home that I really wish that I could win it's beautiful and it looks really comfortable.  I would also want energy saving appliances especially the washer, dryer and dish washer.  I would want thermostats in each room so that you only have to heat the rooms that are being used. OR that you could control say because my daughter likes things cooler than I she could have her temp cooler and I'd still be warm.

  4. I would pay more for materials to build one simply because building my own home I would save tens of thousands of dollars by doing most of the labor myself.

Now, as I am very frugal with my money, I would NEVER pay more for a home simply because it was "green". I would buy cheap, live in it and convert to green gradually.Selling it for much more as a "green" house.

My green home will have the following features:

Save all run-off from roof tops and use the water to sustain a vegetable garden and fruit trees.

A system set up to filter and re-use all grey-water to  landscaping.

I would use cork for all wood flooring

    Use recycled material for insulation

    Solar heating

And  last but not least composting toilets (with the option for the future buyer to put in flush toilets)

  5. My house has green trim.  Does that count?

  6. I'd pay more if it saved me money in the long run (i.e. in 3 years time).
