  1. depends on the severity.. you still need to be able to QUICKLY read instructions and orders without error.  

    you also must be able to communicate effectively yourself in written word.


  2. You can.  However..... I would really suggest not joining the AF.  Our guys test a lot, and retention and promotion is based on these tests.  Depending upon the severity of your dyslexia, this could be a serious problem.  Also, there are no accomodations made, such as the colored overlays, verbal instead of written, extra time, etc.

    At our previous base I worked with guys who had reading comprehension and study skill issues.  Several of them turned out to be dyslexic.  The minor ones did fine with skills we were able to teach them.  But we did have 2 guys who ended up just getting out of the service.  

  3. Yes, you can enlist in the Guard Coast.
