You Mind Me lands Ladbrokes Pall Mall Final at Oxford
Ladbrokes Pall Mall Final was certainly the biggest event at Oxford on Tuesday night. Ahead of the £8000 meeting, You Mind Me and Brittons Empire were declared 3-1 joint favourites. Nonetheless, the rest of the pack was hard to ignore, as there were plenty
of speedy runners in the line-up.
The bookmakers were predicting a nail-biting contest, but there was no big surprise. F. Taylor’s two-year-old charge made it one sided, as he dominated the proceedings from pillar to post. After beginning the show from the third trap, the black and white
dog gave his rivals no respect.
He was quickly away and despite the fact that his opponents tried their best to change the situation, it was almost impossible for them to catch You Mind Me.
Bit Chili’s dashing son stopped the clock in just 26.89 seconds, seizing the first position by a length’s distance. Brittons Empire was expected to be among top-3, but failed to do anything special.
C. Allsopp’s trainee, who attracted plenty of punters before the race, finished fourth, despite getting an early pace. The black dog covered the distance of 450 metres in 27.39 seconds, failing to end up among first three positions by three and a half lengths.
Smart Bid made the best of his kennel-mate’s below par effort and secured the runner-up place quite easily. The black hound was slowly away and despite failing to make an impact in the middle stages of the race, an excellent finish guided him to the second
place.
Farloe Mysterio also finished well to lock the third position. Aherlow Shaw was the least favourite runner in the line-up. After getting crowded at the first bend, Black Shaw’s son was in no position to create an upset. Consequently, he finished fifth in
the list.
Dromana Max could have avoided embarrassment of being the back maker, but failed terribly. The blue dog, Aherlow Shaw’s half brother, missed the fifth spot only by a neck’s distance.
Many believe that You Mind Me does not break well, but he dismissed the notion with an outstanding effort at Oxford. The maverick runner is now scheduled to go for the William Hill Classic at Sunderland.
