The brain has to automatically filter information as it is received. It receives millions of signals every second, but the brain its self can only handle a very small fraction of these or it would go bang.

It is however possible to train the brain to search for relevant things in particular.N.L.P. neurone linguistic programming (or something like that).

I am in the process of trying to understand all of this sort of stuff myself, so as a newby that is about all i can say for now.
