  1. You might get some answers dealing with buoyancy and water density, but If the boat is in open water with no other references to give you a clue, then LOOK FOR BARNACLES.  Although they can live in a mix of fresh and salt water, like a bay, they do not live in pure fresh water.  The boat in salt on the other hand is certain to have barnacles.

Probably a trick answer but it easier to see than a 1 inch difference in water level !

  2. the salt could leave a mark on the salt water boat

  3. I'm guessing by the buouancy of each boat - water level on each hull?

  4. if the boats are identical, then the one in freshwater would be slightly lower in the water than the one in saltwater

  5. Salt water is darker (greener) than freshwater

  6. Since saltwater is more dense, the boat in the saltwater would be floating higher.

  7. the one with the salt water should be floating higher. salt water has a higher density.

  8. Need pictures then I can tell you

  9. the color of the water, also the boat will rise slightly higher in salt water but I don't know by how much so you may not see it. anyway, hope it helped, Mark

  10. Saltwater is denser, so the boat in saltwater would sit higher in the water than the one in fresh water.  This is the reason that people who cannot float in a lake can float in the ocean!

    Hope this helps!

  11. My mam says salt water leaves a corrosion mark. so that is it according to my mum.

  12. Saltwater has more density so things will float better and easier than in saltwater.
