You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden? What does this verse from the bible mean?

I have to define my favorite verse from the bible in Caticism.

These are the words of Jesus Christ to His Disciples.  "Ye are the light of the world," means that His Disciples are supposed to let their light shine, that is, show by their godly living, gracious and kind ways, their concern for the poor, their peace in times of trouble, and similar such behaviors, that belonging to Christ is a wonderful thing.

Just like a city on a hill cannot be hidden, the Christian's light is not supposed to be hidden, it is to be as visible as a city on a hill.

You are the light of the world...a light in the darkness so that people can see (the truth, the good, the mercy)  

A city on a hill cannot be hidden...It is out there for everyone to see in plain sight(your works, your actions, your faith)

But if you are to define your favorite verse...You might want to pick one that you know what it means...or it shouldn't be your favorite.

City on a hill=JESUS

You see...If a city is on a "hilll" its above everything else...If it is above everything and its high in the air, everyone will see it. Thus the "you cannot be hidden".
