  1. In most states that is true. However, you may also need addtional early education endorsements with your Associate Degree before anyone will hire you.

  2. I like the answer that you received that, yes, in most cases but plan on going on for your Bacherlor's Degree.

It varies from area to area but if many are starting to require more education and that's wonderful.  CDA's are becoming very popular of late...and that's great but I'll be glad to see the day come when all preschools require the lead teacher to have a bacherlor's degree.  Early Childhood Education is so important.

In most "private" preschools...such as those in child care centers... an Associate's is usually enough.  However if you wish to work in larger organizations or state/federally funded programs you'll be required to have a Bacherlor's Degree with an early childhood endorsement.  Good luck!

  3. X3jenn,

In California that's true, and probably in most states. You must check in your state to be sure, though.

  4. Remember this...educators most always have to go back to school. I would say work now and work on your Bachelor's also. Its kinda like...do it now or do it later.

  5. These are the minimum educational requirements for most California preschool and childcare programs.

Preschool Teacher: 12 units of Child Development to include: Child Growth and Development , Child Family and Community  and Program-Curriculum

  6. Most public schools require a bachelors at the least. Private schools don't have the same rules and can hire just about anyone that they want. Check on the higher ed dept in your state and it should state the requirement.

  7. In many areas, that is true, but plan to go on for your Bachelors degree.  The general trend is toward requiring 4 year degrees for the better paying jobs, so don't plan to quit after completing your 2 year degree.  You can work full time and go to school half time if you want to, but GET THAT 4 YEAR DEGREE!  You will be bo so much better off in the long run if you do!
