  1. I'm sure you could learn the game by yourself just fine. You would need either a ball machine or a wall to hit against. Make sure you're really observant: you'll learn from your mistakes. For example: Oh, if  my strings are pointing towards the ground, the ball is going to go into the net, so I'll point the strings into the opposite court.

This will only get you so far. It's really best if you can find someone to play with. I would also recommend entering tournaments; matchplay is the best experience you can get.

  2. Practice,Practice,Practice! If you don't want to have a coach or instructor, you MUST have an experienced tennis player to hit with, because the only way you can learn is by watching them and playing with someone who can hit the ball back to you. Hard thing is that you have find that person willing to hit with you because your a beginner, hope this helps :)

  3. you do need a partner to play with...this does teach you the game....I started playong tennis 2 months ago and I taught myself...I JUST NEEded someone to play with....and youtube and yahoo.awnsers. Good luck

  4. Well it is really difficult to learn by yourself, you will need someone else to play with, the tennis ball launching systems don't really give you the full effect.. I wouldn't say you absolutely have to have lessons or a coach, but if you knew someone that was pretty good, I would recommend using them to teach you.
