You cannot make something from nothing, does this mean that something made the universe?

Is it possible that God is no longer God but changed itself into the universe with the big bang? If so then aren't we mini gods?

  1. no it does not.

  2. No it means that the universe has always been here no beginning no end just constant recycling of material and energy.

  3. The universe is the result of a potential.

  4. No, because that maker cannot exist either. It means the universe always existed.

  5. no. it means that our laws have on exception. if something created the universe and you cant make something from nothing, then that something had to come from somewhere.

  6. Yeah, God did! A human sure as heck didn't make that, haha, and it didn't just come outta nowhere from nothing. Everything has a creator, whether it's a child with clay or God with the universe.

  7. Well, you see, in the beginning there was nothing.

    And (it)* exploded.

Then there was everything.  All of the matter and energy that make up the countless billions upon billions of galaxies that consist of trillions of stars.   Everything, is really unimaginable, so lets just say it was a lot!

Erm, yes, when you have nothing floating around (so to speak) in, ahm, nothing... ness then (it)*, ahem, right, ah tends to explode... until there is something!

Of course, once you have something, then nothing ever explodes again!  Oh, ah, from nothingness that is.  Boy, if (it)* did, there would be quite a mess!

(* "It" of course is nothing, that is, which technically isn't "it" because "it", itself isn't nothing...  So to speak.)

What that doesn't make sense to you either?  But that is the current best "naturalistic science" answer to the origin of the universe.

(Personally, I prefer, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth.")

  8. Yes, it does. Fact.

Our own perception of science (law of preservation of mass) tells us that matter can not be created.

This proves that the universe was created UNSCIENTIFICALLY. The beginnings of our existence are unscientific, they are above science.

People say that two chemicals clashed in the beginning to expand and explode outward, creating a "big bang". Yet the chemicals too would have had to been created. Not only that, but the laws behind the chemical reaction would have had to been created as well. So there are two holes in the scientific theory there alone.

Also, an infinite amount of time can not have passed, as someone already suggested. That is a ridiculous theory. Nothing in the universe is infinite and it is impossible that an infinite (endless) amount of time has already passed -- otherwise we could not exist right now.

If I deliver a newspaper to someone after an infinite amount of time... when do I deliver the newspaper?

Never. I can not wait an infinite amount of time because that amount of time has no beginning and no end. There will always be one more second, therefore the concept of "infinite time" is itself a paradox. It is not an amount at all because it can not be calculated. Think about it -- okay, an infinite amount of time has passed. Now humans are created. But wait, that means the time that's passed WASN'T infinite afterall, as it had an end -- marked by the creation of man.

Therefore there can be no such thing as an infinite amount of time; and therefore, the universe was created unscientifically; and therefore, God created the universe, no matter HOW you look at it.

An atheist once argued that "well it could have just been created by some intelligent being millions and millions of years ago that we don't know about". Right -- thus, that would be god. I didn't say that the Christian God absolutely created all matter (although it is logically certain that He did, but that's for another question).

Edit: EXACTLY, Cobirch! You have just proven my point. There is an exception to the laws of science -- that exception is the Creator. And since the Creator is outside and above science, he is as you put it "exempt" from any scientific law (as He created those laws in the first place), then it is also logical that He could create Himself. "All-powerful" means that God can do anything.
