The former AC Milan player believes that the fans must not overly criticise the Rossoneri President for a selling the two stars, while the club is in averse economic condition.

Gattuso stated that Silvio Berlusconi has served AC Milan for 25 years with excellence, and insisted that the fans must not be hard on the President for making the tough choice.
The Scion player urged the Rossoneri chief to be open about his financial concerns with their fanatics, and stressed that the supporters should also understand the reason that motivated the club to make such a deal.
The former Rossoneri player pointed out that the economic condition of Italy is such that people are losing jobs constantly, and stressed that it is impossible to keep football out of the economic turmoil that is getting hold of the country.
The veteran defender assured that the Italian giants will soon return to big spending in transfer market, and stressed that it is important to make sacrifices at the moment.
While talking to the press, the 34-year-old said:
“You can’t criticise President Silvio Berlusconi after what he has done for the last 26 years, but there is a need to be clear and tell people how things are. Sacrifices are being made for two-three years and then there will be a return to spending. If people
are losing their jobs then there isn’t the need to spend money on a football club.” He added.
Gattuso went on to add that clubs like AC Milan do not participate in UEFA Champions League just to participate, and insisted that it is shocking to see the Italian giants make such moves.
