There is this little disagreement about a tea kettle. Say there are two sisters. One asks another to put on a tea kettle full of water as she is busy with something else. So the other one does but accidentally forgets to put on the cap that makes it whistle when the water is does. Consequently, the water boils dry and the tea kettle is ruined. Now the mother wants them to buy her a new tea kettle. Who is responsible and should pay for it? Or should they split it?

  1. The one who forgot to put the top on it.

  2. Split it. The second wouldn't have done it at all, but was forgetful. It was the first's request.

  3. It is such a small thing for sisters to have a disagreement about. Split the cost and forget about it. Good luck

  4. the sister who forgot to put on the cap, is the one to blame, because she forgot to put the cap on. You do not have to do everything that everyone says. If they are sisters they should split it, but whoever ruined the kettle should pay.

  5. The good samaritan clause applies here -- those who are acting in good faith as a good samaritan should not be responsible for damages incurred.

  6. the one who did it who cares if the one asked the other to doit shes not in charge

  7. Well they should split it because splitting things is nice. But if the first sister wants to be a beeyatch and doesn't want to split her monies, then the other sister should pay for it because it was mostly her fault.

  8. split

  9. The one that put it on the stove.

  10. I believe if this was my kids. I would have the one who forgot the cap replace the kettle....it was ultimately her responsibility to have done it.

But to save an argument, the two may choose to split it.

  11. split the cost.

  12. they should both pay for it..the one who let it w/o the top should go out and buy it, but the other one should pay half..

  13. Split it!

  14. They're both at fault. It's just a tea kettle anyway. Just take away from their allowance to buy another one. If they don't have an allowance, make them do house chores. If they already do house chores, make them do more.

Teach them to take responsibilty for their actions instead of finding someone to blame.

  15. That the tea kettle should be replaced is a given.  The person who let the water boil away is the responsible person, but it would be a nice gesture if both of you shared the replacement cost.

  16. the on ewho forgot to put the cap on

  17. the first one.  the second one was doing a favor.  she wouldn't have put it on the burner if the first one hadn't asked her.

    which sister are you?

  18. Just split the bill.  How much could a tea kettle cost?  Or just go out and buy another tea kettle.  It never ceases to amaze me the ridiculous things that people will bicker over.

  19. the mother should chill out....it was a mistake, whoever put the water on is responsible....you never put something on the stove and make it the responsibility of someone else.....buy the tea kettle and be thankful you didnt burn the house down

  20. Whoever burnt it is responsible.

  21. They both should pay...how can a full kettle of water boil away unless no one is paying attention?  I also think that the one who left the whistler off should drive and pay the sales tax.

  22. The first sister, if she wanted it done correctly she should have done it herself

  23. the sister who ruined the kettle ruined the kettle.  she should pay for it.

  24. I would say it is the one who asked for the favor...it takes a while for water to boil and aparently she forgot about the tea pot all together. Not to mention, If I were the one who did the favor of putting it on, I might help pay for it, but I would not pay for it all, and I would not do my sister that favor again. If she wasnt willing to pay attention to it, she shouldnt have asked her to put it on.

  25. They should split b/c it was both of their problems. But the one who put the kettle on and forgot the put the cap on should really pay for it

  26. That's easy, the sister who put it on and forgot to put on the cap! If the cap had been on then the other sister would have heard it and shut it off, instead it was ruined.
