  1. Better Federal Government involvement.

    Caps on attorney fees.

Certifications on all adoption agencies used in international adoptions.

  2. Steal/breed to order.

    The money.

If a business is getting $35,000 for a healthy, caucasian baby girl, what are they going to look for?

They get $5,000 for a 7 year old black boy.

That's what physically makes me sick. The importation and selling of other people's children.

It should never be tolerated in any way.

Adoption should be about finding a home for a child, not a 'better' one, and not a fashionable 'ethnic' child for a couple.

  3. When a nmother claims/proves that her child has been kidnapped that a thorough investigation is done and her child is returned. No excuses nor long drawn out court processes.

Kidnapping should never be tolerated nor supported whether the Aps knew directly or just heard it was happening but chose to ignore it. A centralized DNA bank will help speed up this process.

  4. Change our country's policy on adoption from certain countries.

If, like China, they have a track record of aborting girls, we should have policy that awards parents for giving their little girls up for adoption.

Either that, or more strongly monitors and assists when international birth-parents request monitary assistance from adopting parents (to protect the adopting parents against fraud).

  5. Every baby that is put up for adoption in another country needs a DNA test to prove that the people placing the child up for adoption are it's real parents. I think that simple step would help bunches....

  6. Hi Freckle Face,

I would change the fact that once the child leaves the country of origin he/she is 'adopted'. I think it should be run something like foster-to-adoption is run, where the adoption is not finalized before a certain period of time. Where social workers from the placement agency must visit in-home with the child and family to verify that the child is bonding and that the child is well cared for.

  7. I would change it to facilitate as much contact and info exchange as possible between the first family and the adoptive family and child as possible.

We maintain contact but our sons father cannot even afford basic pens and papers let alone international postage prices. It is against the law for us to provide him with these things (could be seen as payment for the child).

I think more contact with first families would prevent more fraud and also reveal more about what international adoption really is (both the good and the bad) to those in home countries.

  8. We need to find a way to make things ethical for every single person involved.

That will take time and effort.

Maybe the future of adoption will be well.........more ethical!
