  1. I have read time and time again that crawling is very important.  When babies do the cross-pattern motion (left leg, right arm, right leg, left arm, etc etc) it exercises a part of their brain that is developing.

It also helps align their spine correctly, and helps distribute weight later in life (like if the play a sport that involves upper and lower body)

The list of sites could go on and on.  Please read a few!!  I happen to agree, it's very important.  It's not about getting from point A to point B, crawling is a specific exercise that their bodies need to do!

  2. Not always true. Some kids go straight to walking.

  3. Crawling is a vital developmental stage.  It enables the maturation of optic coordinating centres in the midbrain.  Try to encourage her to crawl.

  4. no every child developes differently so dont push her to crawl if she wants to walk, my mother is an infant toddler specialist i hear her gabbing away about stuff all the time so im positive that this is normal

  5. No, it's normal for kids to skip crawling and start walking.

  6. my son didnt crawl at all he straight away started walking.

  7. My daughter didn't crawl - she rolled, and then she walked.  From what I understand, that is fairly normal.

Don't force your kid to crawl - they will get from point A to point B if they want to the way they know how to.  It doesn't matter if they crawl, scoot, roll, or drag themself there.

  8. crawling is an important developmental phase it's not just a way to move around until the baby learns to walk... it requires certain coordination skills and if the child skips it it's not a good thing, it might mean he\she lacks those skills and is not working on developing them.. and yes I've read more than once that skipping it can be associated with certain disabilities like a previous answer said.. remember it MIGHT and not necessarily mean there is a disability ... you cant teach or force a child to crawl I guess , I say consult a specialist and don't rely on our answers as we are only telling you what we might have read or heard, and keep what he tells you in mind until your baby is old enough to be tested.

  9. Let her do what is normal for her..why would you put a baby on her handsd and knees when she can walk?   All of us, as we grow up..some skip steps as grades in school..DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS,,,,,  Never hold anyone back...

    LET HER SPREAD HER WINGS.....hugs!!

  10. I have heard people say that there is a link between ADD and ADHD with kids who didn't crawl or crawled only a short period of time. Crawling is very good for babies and exercises their brains, you should really try to keep her crawling as long as possible. try to get her some fun toys to "chase" after while she crawls
