the milk companies make whole milk...

I don't know why, but I've always wanted to know. Probably cause I drink it all the time, but yeah. Do they just put something in the milk directly from the cow, or what?

If you know, you rock. =D

  1. Whole milk means "full fat" unlike 2% milk which contains 2% fat, 1% contains 1% fat and skim is fat free. So, actually your question should be how do milk processors make fat free milk?

  2. whole milk is as it comes from the cow but pasteurized and homogenized.  2% has all but 2% of the cream removed,  1% has all but 1% of the cream removed and skim has all the cream removed.  They do add vitamin D to all milk as it aids in the absorption of calcium.

Hey, Lady Luck, what exactly is udder puss anyway???

  3. They take milk from the cows, try to strain out most of the udder puss, (seriously!) process it (heating it up to kill bacteria, etc) Add hormones to kill bacteria and the udder puss, hen put it in cartons for you! I know its gross but its true!

Udder puss is the infections and diseases that cows get from being milked beyond capacity. They are literally 'milked' of every last drop and then some, which results in infected udders. All that nasty gets into the milk. Instead of throwing it out and losing money, then pump it full of more hormones to kill the bacteria in it so they can still sell it.
