There is also a beneficial organization for volunteers with the U.S.D.A . Natural Resource Conservation Service called Earth Team. They have a # 1-888-Landcare. This is a volunteer program, but they can also assist in finding something you maybe looking for.

There are plenty of orgs that maybe you're entire family can participate in that "adopt" an animals for like 5-10 dollars a month. They send you all kinds of stuff about it like a little brochure with its name and updates on how its doing. Look online for these places. Also, chechk at your local zoo. They have a similar program plus you can go the the animal that you have "adopted."
