  1. You'd be looking at:

    1) Weight. The plane would be too heavy to fly.

    2) Price. It is very expensive.

    3) Safety. If a plane was made of indestructible material, when it crashed, it would stop dead in the ground, instead of crumpling.

Taking a look at the physics behind it, the momentum on any passengers who would have survived the crash, would be so great, it would tear their bodies around their seatbelt.

It's the theory behind crumple zones in cars - the front of the car crushes on impact, so it takes longer to stop, and reduces the "force" on the passengers, which saves lives.

  2. Who told you it is indestructible?

Even if it were, what good would that do?  You think you'd survive sudden stoppage just because the aircraft did?

  3. you're so clever!

  4. it's possible to make an indestructible plane, but it will become too heavy and it will not be able to fly... and it would become too big.

For example you can use the submarine structure, but the weight it's enormous...

    bye

  5. Weight.

  6. It would make the airplane too heavy to fly. Part of the reason that the data recorders can survive, is that the crushing of the aircraft absorbs the vast amounts of energy that reduces the forces impacting the recorders.  The boxes are in the tail of the aircraft, so that the rest of it acts like a crumple zone to protect them.

  7. answer for yourself... have you ever heard of a flying tank?(=armor)?

the "blackbox is NOT indestructible it is just sturdy. if you smash it hard enough it will brake.

more than that, the blackbox does not have any windows, doors, and virtually NO lift. these qualities merely disqualify it from being used to manufacture etire plane out of such stuff.

  8. Dont know, but while we are on the subject, Why not just spray the plane with 'rhino-liner?   Works for the guy on T.V.......................

  9. That is a good question--one I have asked myself. Maybe it would be too heavy or something --or maybe it would be too expensive --who knows?

  10. The black box is not indestructible. It is however very strong and capable of withstanding extreme impacts but often these boxes have to be cut open to retrieve the equipment after an crash. Making an entire airplane " indestructible is not possible because everything can be destroyed if you think about it. NASA and other agencies are working to make aircraft more safe just like cars. They are crash testing airplanes and trying to find ways to make air mishaps less fatal. About 95% of all airplane crashes are survivable

  11. Because they don't make the roads wide enough.

(For those of you new to sarcasm, the plane would be so heavy, it'd never get off the ground)

  12. They do it solely so people will watch George Carlin standup routines from the 70's, then post questions on Yahoo Answers about it.

    The reality is...THEY DO!

The "Black Box"  is made from PVC, plastic, and aircraft aluminum.  Those are the primary components of an airplane too.
