FRIDAY! And you know what that means........Drum roll please............THE DRAFT! Woo!

Unfortunately for me, Pittsburgh doesn't have a pick until the fourth round, so I won't be watching my team do anything tonight, but I still have false hope we'll trade a r****d on the team for a draft pick.

I also dearly cannot wait for Stamkos to officially be part of our NHL............Maybe then people can stop with the "Where's Stamkos?"...It always makes me think he's lost or something. We can start with the "Here's Stamkos!"

What's your favorite part of the day? The trading before hand? Watching your team make good picks/s***w up with picks? Just watching something hockey? All the g*y rumors that fly around?

  1. Usually I get the warm fuzzies from Draft day..but this year I have a sense of dread..not sure why..I woke up this morning and just have a baaad feeling...My Pittsburgh Penguins are scaring me with all the non-UFA talk going on.

Um HELLO, Shero, what about the other 14 UFA!?!

  2. Ah, my favorite part is listening the experts knight some players and tear apart others when these kids have yet to take a single NHL shift.  It is hillarious.

The trades are what I find most interesting.  I think the draft in itself is a crapshot.  I don't get to excited over prospects.  To many variables go into it.

I also like to tip back with some brews during the draft.  Last year my wife was out of town and I remember being pretty hammered by the time the first round concluded.

***Iceman, on the bright side if you want to go to a baseball game you will have a whole section to yourself down that indoor bandbox.

  3. Look for the Sens to trade up to a top 10 pick.

Maybe somewhere in the top 5.  I like the Spezza trade rumor to LA.  I think the Sens need a D-man with the speculation of Redden hitting the open market.

  4. The Pen's don't have a pick till the 4th round?  Wow this is going to be a tough off season for them isn't it?

  5. Well, this is the first time i will be watching the draft, im busy tonight so it will be recorded on the DVR. Im excited to see who goes where and the  new faces on the hawks.

g*y rumors as in stupid ones or players being g*y?

  6. This is almost as exciting as trade day.

Players getting traded and new stars being signed.

  7. Drafts are sooo boring. As much as I love hockey surely you people could find better things to do on a Friday night. It's like watching paint dry or grass grow!

d**n...I could turn on my web cam and I'm sure you'd have a better time watching my whiskers thicken!

  8. like Where's Waldo.

fav part is the trading. that's reality. if i interest myself in rumors, i get dizzy, and have to sit down and drink a glass of milk. there are too many "what ifs".

add - i have to echo Beer Slayer's comments. i forgot to verbalize my mentality. there is no way that i can justify watching the draft. but IF i did, fermented grain beverages would be involved; probably split screens too.

  9. draft day

    finally =)

  10. Well according to TSN Pittsburgh is reportedly talking to LA about trading Mike Cammilarri and a first round pick for Malkin so not only would you have something to watch you would watch it in the first 5 picks!!!!

  11. my fav part of draft day is just watching the faces on the yound kids who get picked first thru tenth they are sumtimes priceless. i also enjoy watching my wings make picks and turn them into stars even in the last rounds haha..

    GO WINGS!!! PICK MORE WINNERS!!!

  12. I have this odd sense of excitement about the draft this year. An interestingly enough it's not about my Rangers. I just found out that I will be moving to St. Pete instead of Miami, so I am feeling intrigued by the prospect of watching Stamkos first hand. It's an odd phenomenon because i've never been a bandwagoner, but I just caught myself looking at Lightning Tickets online. Snap out of it Iceman, your a Rangers fan!

**Andrew- Yeah, and I won't be in the minority as a Yankee fan!

**Kate- So I'll just be an obnoxious brash Tampa fan? Lol you can't take the New York outta a New York fan.

  14. i have no idea what the caps are looking to do on this one i wanna see some trades.  Sucks the stars arent in till the 2nd round i think.  My favorite part i kind of the anticipation of the trades that might happen and watching who gets drafted by who.  It makes me wish the season was in a couple days so i could see how the draftees actaully perform.  Im goin to the caps development camp for the prospects in july so i can see the future and how the nes draftees are

  15. I love watching these kids walk up and put the jersey on...somehow I remember this day years later when they are a success or a failure.

This year's draft is more interesting because of all the trade talks.

I am hoping, and expect Boston to be pretty active. We need some offense!

  16. I enjoy the fact of watching some of the best players in the world get the chance to do something I was so close to.As a kid who didn't Slip on there Jersey in front of the mirror and pretend it was draft day. That's right up there with holding a garbage can over your head and pretending it's the CUP.

  17. I actually get an excited feeling in my stomach.Like nervous.

I got to go to the draft in Columbus and it was fun.

I am holding out for a blockbuster trade that probably wont happen. But maybe........

The BlueJackets have 2 picks, and I hope we turn them into gold.Especially the one from the Foote trade.

Great day to be a fan!

  18. so sad of u! my favourite part of day is sitting on net!
