they are either for playstations or they are for pc which is ram and the more ram the faster your pc is.

A memory card is a kind of solid-state hard drive (e.g No moving parts).

There are memory cards for mobile devices, cameras and (some) mp3 players. Some examples are CF (compact flash), MiniSD and MicroSD (very small cards for made phones and GPS units) Memory Stick Duo (for PSP game consoles) and MMC (multimedia cards for cameras)

Then there are also game console memory cards (albeit much larger than a card itself) such as a PS2 memory card, and an Xbox memory unit.

Memory cards are used for mainly gaming consoles such as Playstation for example. You connect your controller and above you connect your memory card. This is where your saved data for your games are. For Xbox, its either the hard drive or the seperately sold memory cards that fit in your controller. With computers, its a flash drive/thumb drive/usb stick which you save data and you can bring it with you where ever you go. That goes also for the memory cards for gaming consoles.
