It's never that great to b/c you tend to forget all of it the next morning...you should study consecutive days...like..study hard one day...wait a day or so and do it again so it really gets engraved into your brain.

Depends on the class.  If it is a hard class that you have struggled a lot with, study for about 3-4 days before, making sure to take plenty of breaks and to get a good nights sleep.  If it is an easy class or one you have little problems with, a day of studying should be good.
