  1. i think they should leave the pads alone. i dont want to see games that end up 10-7. i like watching the talent and how much work it takes to get it past the goalie. makes you apreciate it that much more.

  2. When the new pad rule it said width would be limited to 11 inch wide pads as opposed to the 12 inch pads many grew accumstumed to. Pad height is currently restricted to 38 inches, which looks humongous on Legace at 5'9, whereas a friend of mine who's 6'5 and a size 14 skate wears 36+2 pads (which he's trying to sell. Any of you guys have some insight on the Simmons 993 series?)

EDIT it seems most everyone who wants smaller pads wouldn't be caught wearing them anyway.

  3. I could've sworn they had said something about decreasing the pad size....not sure though.

Giggy is pretty funny to look at with those humongous pads.

  4. This BS again?   All equipment is regulated/measured &if it was illegal he'd be made to take it off.

  5. Oddly enough.... if they do eliminate and inch width-wise ... Brodeur and Osgood will not be affected. Same with if they try and mandate the Length. Their are probably many more, but I read a few months back that both of those guys were already within the change if it should come.

  6. Everyone says don't try to change the game, but they changed it when they let the pads get bigger. I think they could be a little smaller. A compromise between today and yesteryear would be nice.

  7. yes i think the pads should be a little bit smaller.

  8. LEAVE THE GAME ALONE

  9. No they actually shouldn't.  You see i appreciate a good save just as much as a goal.  Also reducing pad size in the new NHL would increase the chance of injury to the goalies.  And since no one else is saying it, I DON'T WANT HIGH SCORING!!  Look at lacrosse does anyone watch that??  No, they don't.  I like close low scoring games where it keeps your heart rate high and you're adrenaline pounding.  STOP s******g WITH A PERFECT SPORT!!!

In addition reducing pad size is a change in fundamentals so all that will happen is goalies will adjust to the change and we'll be right back to where we started.  If you want higher scoring make a two minute power play a two minute power play and not let the short handed team get their player back once the opposing team score.  And if you really want to go to extremes no icing when short handed.  Do that and you've got your high scoring.

  10. More scoring = less excitement. Trust me. If you are expecting a goal when one is scored it is kind of meh. But if you know that is a real challenge to do so, that is what makes it exciting. How difficult it is to score and never knowing when a goal is coming is what keeps you on the edge. Not a 6-5 game where there was no real defensive pressure.
