  1. Not sure the specifics, but I'm about certain that whatever the punishment, it is less severe than if you were to use a fake ID or someone else's.

  2. I think there are some fishy laws there... if you showed your ID and it showed you were underage, and you were in an actual liqour store, i know near me they can charge you for trespassing since you arn't legally able to enter liqour stores near me unless you are 21+... but i think there is another law, but misrepresenting your age.

  3. It's attempted purchase of alcohol by a minor.  Seriously, it's that simple.  Ironically, successful purchase of alcohol by a minor is less likely to be punished.  This is simply due to the fact that a police officer needs to be involved to notice that a minor has alcohol, and the minor can get out of the charge of possession of alcohol if they agree to dispose of the alcohol and tell the officer where they bought it.  The store gets a huge fine, might need to shut down for a few days if they have several violations.

It completely depends on the clerk as to what will happen.  Sometimes they will give you the ID back and tell you to leave.  Others will hold the ID and call the police.  If it is your real ID, you'll get it back; if it's fake, then the store keeps it and you get another charge.

As to the trespassing thing, it depends on the state.  In MA, liquor stores sell cigars and soda.  Anyone 18+ can buy cigars, so they allow people under 21 into a liquor store, they just can't touch, point to, or hold any of the alcohol.

  4. It is illegal to buy alcohol in most states until you are 21. It does not matter that you have a valid ID or Driver's License if you are not of legal age.

  5. None. Don't you have to actually buy the alcohol for the charge? Provided you are using a legitimate id and stopped before you purchased, I don't think they can charge you with anything.

I could very well be wrong, though.
