Ugh sorry, accidentally deleted the other one. Please show me the correct method to solve this problem. I got the square root of 29090 by trial and error and I am having much difficulty figuring out the other questions similar to this one. Thanks!

  1. Since 108 - 25 = 83, this is the same as walking 83 yards south and 149 west. So the distance is:

    sqrt(83^2 + 149^2) = sqrt(6889 + 22201) = sqrt(29090)

    I answered this before, but Yahoo kept saying they were taking a breather - now I know why! :-)
