Ive always liked Manny and his antics and have been I fan of his, but as I saw on a morning show on ESPN where they said he ruined the integrity of baseball, I think he did. He will definately be in the hall of fame, but this is not something good for baseball or for anybody to be proud of. A guy makes 20 million dollars and he decides its not good enough to try out there. He decides to give up on his teammates so he can get more money for himself at the end of a season. He decides he should try to leave his team for a bigger contract instead of possibly helping them win another championship. I even heard the Scott Boras talked to the Red Sox about the offseason(after the trade) and talks about trying to get him back in Boston if the moneys right. So a guy who makes more than almost everybody in this country is sending a message to us and children that money is more important than playing the game hard and the right way with passion for the game. I would l**k the dirt off of every street in my town to make that much money, but he decides its not enough. Obviously Dodgers fans will be happy because they get a guy who makes them a contender. But his agent knows hes 36 and wanted to get him out of his contract so he can make more money while he can. He held a team hostage and shown us money is more important winning. A guy is showing children that if they make it to the majors money is more important than passion for the game. What are your views on it?

  1. God knows I love this sport but honestly, what integrity do you speak of? I think that went out the window when guys started pleading the fifth.

  2. Manny is not the first person to do this (see Gary Sheffield, Roger Clemens, etc.) nor will he be the last.  He's looking out for himself which is what a lot of players do as well as you and me.  He may not have went about it the right way but he still got what he wanted which was out of Boston.

Performance enhancing drugs is a more serious issue the compromises the integrity of the game.

  3. I dont know cuz im not reading all that.

  4. He is the most selfish player in the league. I hadn't thought of this as you have pointed out and it's true. He didn't stay with the Sox because of money, that's about it. There were no other reasons for him to leave that team.  It's incredible that a guy like that will make it to the Hall of Fame, but he will. His numbers are incredible and will continue like that for at least 3 or 4 more years unless he falls down. Let's just hope he does help the Dodgers for their sake.

  5. No.  I think that STEROIDS are bad for the integrity of baseball.

  6. I wouldn't say that he ruined the integrity.  That is a bit harsh.

Did you know that Ty Cobb was banned indefinitely by the league for beating up a handicapped fan because he was calling him names?  He was kicking him with his cleats!  He was eventually reinstated after baseball's first strike and then eventually was inducted in the Hall of Fame.

Ty Cobb was a rotted person and much worse than Manny Ramirez.  Not many people remember Ty Cobb for being a jerk.  Just a great ball player.

  7. His attitude and no playing as a team player is bad for the league. He only plays when he wants to

  8. Manny is nothing more that a child in a man's body.  The real problem is Scott Boras.  As fans we are all paying the price for Scott Boras's greed.  Manny couldn't count to 10 without help.  He just happens to be a great baseball (hitter) not player.  He is being exploted by everyone around him.

The game has far too many major issues.  It would take a book to list them.  Bud Selig let Barry Bonds chase Hank Aaron's home run record knowing full well that he was lieing about his steroid use.  Selig let Rafael Palmeiro reach his 3000th career hit knowing full well and three weeks earlier that he lied to congress.

When you speak of integrity you almost have to sight those who are innocent of wrong doing first because that list is a great deal shorter than the list of criminals that run the league.

  9. no i agree with bartzbau. manny hasnt been causing trouble since the trade to the dodgers so why does everyone keep talking about him
