The Montpellier Herault star does not understand the reason behind his own fans jeering at him during games in what has been a very tricky start to their Ligue 1 championship defence
With 12 goals and four assists in 28 Ligue 1 encounters last season, Montpellier Herault midfielder, Younes Belhanda won the best young player of the season. And, that award was coupled with a Ligue 1 Championelle for La Paillade who deserved every bit of
the trophy they worked so hard for.
The summer transfer window came and the departure of Olivier Giroud instigated rumours regarding Belhanda’s future at Stade de la Mosson. However, despite attracting interest from the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain,
the youngster chose to stay at his childhood club in a bid to represent it in the Champions League.
However, things have not worked according to plan for the young Moroccan who might be regretting his decision to stay put given the un-called for treatment he has received from his fans. Last night, in 1-0 win over Bordeaux in a Ligue 1 encounter, the playmaker
was booed off by the Stade de la Mosson public.
Although these things are parts and parcel of the game, Belhanda has not taken it quite well and following the game, the youngster spoke to L’Equipe regarding this.
“One day, they’re the best fans and ask you to stay, one day, they are the worst and they ask you to leave. If they have to get this message across, they should go and see Nicollin,” said an understandably bitter Belhanda.
Although he has not been in the best of forms this season (four goals and one assist in 12 games isn’t that bad for a player whose team is not performing to its level), Belhanda feels that he deserves a little more consideration than he is getting at the
moment.
“It’s true, I do not feel well while I’m working. But maybe, the fans have not helped me either.”
However, Belhanda still has the confidence of coach Rene Girard who says that the Moroccan is the fulcrum of the team and that he can improve a lot.
