La Paillade are bracing themselves for club’s maiden Champions League campaign and Belhanda’s decision to stay with the Ligue 1 outfit for another season has given MHSC a huge boost in their quest for European glory.
Younes Belhanda, who was voted Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year and the top African player in Ligue 1 for the 2011/2012 campaign, was on many top European clubs’ wish list. However, the talented midfielder has vowed to stay with the Ligue 1 champions for
at least another season, as he wants to play Champions League football.
The 22-year-old used Twitter to announce his decision to stay with the club where he made a name of himself.
"I wanted to let everyone in on my decision to continue the adventure here with my mates at MHSC this season," Belhanda tweeted.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Morocco-c2961 international expressed his affection for the French club and stated that wearing Montpellier shirt makes him proud and leaving his beloved club at such a young age is not an option.
"As I have said before, I really want to play in the Champions League with the only club I've ever played for and I'm immensely proud to be wearing the shirt again this season. Allez la Paillade, and see you soon." The Moroccon wrote on Twitter.
The news has been warmly welcomed by Montpellier coach Remi Garde, who looks to guide La Paillade to their maiden Champions League campaign.
Despite selling their star striker Olivier Giroud to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, Garde is in confident mood ahead of new season and believes that his young side has the ability to defend their title.
Montpellier have already acquired services of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anthony-Mounier-c6224 and Gaëtan Charbonnier and now Belhanda’s decision to stay has only enhanced club’s chances of defending their Ligue 1 crown.
Younes Belhanda was in terrific form last season for the champions. His 12 goals and 4 assists were influential in Montpellier’s success in 2011/2012 campaign.
