international with a hefty price tag of €15 million, and seems determined to not sell the player at a lower price.
The 22-year-old has been instrumental in La Paillade winning the title last season. He scored 12 goals, as well as assisting four others in the 2011/12 season, claiming the title of Ligue 1’s young player of the Year.
However, the player’s form hasn’t remained the same since the start of the 2012/13 campaign, and it’s believed that the player is willing to depart his long-time club.
Club President, Louis Nicollin believes that Belhanda wants to leave the club. The supremo has stated that he considers the midfielder to be a valuable asset to the club. However he would stop the player if he wants to leave.
“I think he wants to leave. I'm not angry but since the start of the season I don't think he's met expectations or lived up to the promise he'd shown. It's normal that he wants to move on and catch fire elsewhere. I think it's finished for him at Montpellier.”
Nicollin stated that the club is interested in offers and believes that the player is worth at least €15 million. The president compared the player with the likes of Chelsea winger, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eden-Hazard-c11863, who was sold for a reported €42 million euros, as he explained:
“The price? If it rises to 15 million euros then everything's good. Hazard left Lille for 42 million euros. Today, Belhanda isn't even ankle-high to Hazard, even if I said in the past that he had two Hazard's in his legs. I think he's worth 15 million nevertheless.”
It’s believed that the player might end up following the footsteps of his former team-mate, Olivier Giroud who joined English Premier League outfit, Arsenal last summer. Tottenham Hotspur and Fenebahce SK are among the clubs reportedly interested in signing
the young midfielder.
