Tottenham Hotspur defender, Younes Kaboul is set to undergo an extensive operation on his knee and will be out for six weeks.
Harry Redknapp, who is already battling with several other injuries in his defence, will find it hard to cope without the Frenchman in February 2011.
Tottenham are scheduled to play in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages as the round of sixteen resumes from the third week of February. Not only that, Spurs also trail http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the English Premier League table as the Blues currently occupy the fourth
place which will guarantee them a place in next season’s Champions League.
At the moment, Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp’s preference will be the Champions League’s round of sixteen clash against Italian giants, AC Milan.
Younes Kaboul sustained the knee injury during Tottenham’s four-goal defeat to Fulham recently as Spurs took on the Cottagers in an FA Cup clash at Craven Cottage.
Harry Redknapp confirmed the intensity of Kaboul’s injury after the match. “Kaboul is having an operation on his knee. I'm not sure how long he'll be out for. Maybe six weeks,” the manager said.
During the match at Craven Cottage, Tottenham were dealt yet another blow when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Dawson-c25288 was sent off by the referee and will be out for three games.
Redknapp’s woes are further compounded by the fact that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ledley-King-c21859 are still unavailable due to their reoccurring groin problems and other fitness issues.
With about four centre backs out of action due to suspensions or injuries, the ex-West Ham man has his work cut out for the time being. Therefore, Tottenham might be forced to play their newly signed defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vedran-Corluka-c35947 or
Sebastien Bassong in the centre of their defence for the next three matches.
Harry elaborated on the injury issues in his defensive line as he concluded the interview by saying, “We are down to two central defenders. William Gallas has a hip injury. I didn't want to play him today but he had to be on the bench because we didn't have
any cover. He had to come on when we went down to 10 men. Otherwise I only have Sebastian Bassong if Dawson is going to be suspended for three games.”
