Young British swimmer Jack Laugher hoping to participate in London Olympics 2012
Jack Laugher, the 16-year-old British swimmer has recently revealed his intention to be a part of the Great Britain Team in order to participate in the London Olympics 2012.
The young swimmer who belongs to the region of Rippon has allegedly been training long and hard in an effort to qualify for the Olympic Games which are to commence from July 27, 2012.
Laugher said, “Hopefully it's going to be my first Olympics and obviously being in London it's going to be absolutely incredible. I'm really looking forward to it and hopefully if things go to plan everything should be really good. Having such a big home
crowd behind us will be absolutely breathtaking. When I qualified a place for the country in Shanghai that's only a place for the country so it hasn't actually got my name on it.”
In addition, he said that he will have to justify his position in order to be part of the British swimming team and he might get a chance at doing that in June, just before the Games begin.
Laugher has taken part in quite a few tournaments and has been able to secure an admirable position in many of them. The World Championships that took place in the Chinese city of Shanghai in 2011 saw Laugher compete in the 3m springboard event.
The young athlete was able to secure an eighth position in the championships for his country. Laugher was the only British swimmer who was able to finish in top 10 in the 3m springboard event.
The Olympic Games are coming towards the city of London for the third time in the city’s history. After having played host to the Games for the third time, London will become the first ever city in the world which got the honour of hosting the Olympic Games
thrice. The Olympic Games took place for the first time in London in the year 1908 while the second time it was in 1948.
