Question:

Young Cat Sudden Blindness?

My dad's girlfriend has 1 1/2 year old cat who has just suddenly gone blind. We noticed a problem when sores developed on her eyes but the pupils were not dilated. We made a vet visit and they prescribed antibiotics and steroids in the form of eye drops and liquid medication. Well the vet placed the eye drops in the cats eyes and the pupils dilated, and just about two weeks after, minutely shrunk. The cat, as we know, can see very little or not at all. Does anyone know of a problem, in felines, with these symptoms?

  1. My neighbor had a kitten that the vet told her it was blind that the covering over the eye didn't develope or something and suggested they put it to sleep.  But this kitten would play and walk around at times it would bump into something when it ran..Then they took it to another vet and they gave her antibiotics and this eye cream and a month later the cats eyes looked normal again.  The cat did have limited vision but was not completely blind.  They had no intention of putting their cat to sleep as blindness can be adapted to even in kittens.
