The Australian teen sensation, Pat Cummins, is not worried about the massive expectations the fans have pinned on him, and said that he is well equipped to do perform well in Test cricket.
The 18-year-old pacer enjoyed a meteoric success on his debut and impressed the whole cricketing fraternity by displaying an excellent show in a couple of Twenty20 Internationals against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
Apart from 13 runs in his final over of the last game, Cummins remained phenomenal with his pace and swing, grabbing five wickets in two matches.
He will stay with the national side throughout the South Africa tour, as the Aussie selectors have brought him into Test squad following heavy pressure from the cricketing circles within Australia.
Cummins holds an experience of just three first class matches including the Sheffield Shield last season final between his domestic outfit, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tasmania-c854.
It was certainly a tough call for the selectors to put the 18-year-old in 5-day cricket, as the young lad does not have any notable experience of the longest version of the game.
Yet, the outgoing chairman of selectors, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 management is gambling with the future of young fast bowler by rushing him into the tradition form of the sport.
"I don't think it's a gamble. We have got to be careful, we are building it up in the sense that he's 18 and he's in the Test squad for Australia so it's a massive thing, but we don't want to put too high expectations on him,” said Hilditch.
On his sudden selection, Cummins admitted the expectations bring a lot pressure but at the same time, clarified that he has the character to handle it.
"It does put a little bit of added pressure on trying to live up to those comments but it has helped. I guess it's almost given me more confidence in that I've got the backing of fellow players and obviously past players as well," stated Cummins whose first
challenge will be to do well in the upcoming One-dayers before thinking about the Tests.
