Manchester United attacker, Ashley Young has admitted that the Red Devils were lucky in their game against Tottenham Hotspur, as he didn’t think the Manchester based club would walk away with all three points from the game.
United and Tottenham faced each other in a game, that was crucial for both the teams involved in it. United needed the win to close the game between themselves and Manchester City, while Tottenham required the three points, to keep a seven point difference between themselves and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and to stay on the heels of Manchester United.
However, despite Tottenham dominating the game, a goal from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736, followed by a double from Ashley Young saw the Red Devils go three goals up in the game. Jermaine Defoe tried to get something out of the game for Tottenham, but the second half substitute could only score a consolation goal, as United won by three goals to one.
When talking about the game and the change in United’s mentality in the second half, Young is quoted to have said: "In the first half we were not at our best, but we went 1-0 up then we had to get on the front foot in the second half and get the two goals away from home which is vitally important and getting the win is even better.”
"I think all the players knew themselves that we were not playing to our full potential and we had to show that in the second half. We did well to get the two goals and the three points here."
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international then went on to add: "Yeah course they do, they take a bit of work in training and it's nice to see them go in, but it was vitally important to get the three points, which was more important."
This win could prove to be crucial to United, as the game against Tottenham was set to be one which could potentially break the Red Devils season. However, with the team having picked up the three points, it seems like both the Manchester based teams will be willing to wait till April to see just what team claims the top spot in the league.
