I have fed live and frozen pinkies, it has thrown up both kinds. I have fed very tiny and a bit bigger mice, still it throws up both kinds. It has been doing this for a couple of months (?) now. I have let it rest and not fed for a couple of weeks to let it heal, but afterwards it still threw up the food. It is also not growing like my other snakes. Moving around fine, has energy. It wants to eat and gobbles those mice up in a heart beat. I bought it from a pet store, in the beginning it was eating just fine. when it throws up, even days after I fed, the mice don't usually look digested at all. it also has not been shedding lately ( I assume b/c it's not growing)

What do I need to do? Also, it is in a tank with 2 other snakes that are doing just fine, no obvious problems.

  1. Have you tried asking the people at the pet store where you bought the snake at what could be wrong.

  2. Check your temperatures. The most common cause of regurgitation is the temperatures being too low for the snake to properly digest its food. There can be problems if the temps are too high, also. And if your snake is sick, the other two will be as well. This is just one reason snakes should be housed by themselves. It can also be stressful on a snake to be with others.

  3. First off I would move it to a new cage away from the other snakes, since you don't know what is wrong with it you don't want your other snakes to get sick if it is contagious.  It could have internal parasites, take a sample to the vet to know for sure.  Also does it have a under the cage heater.  You can buy them at any pet shop, i use zoo med brand.  Snakes need belly heat to properly digest their food.  But definitely separate it.
