Manchester United’s attacker, Ashley Young admitted that he was quite happy to score the only goal of the game for England against Norway.
England played http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Norway-c2974 in a friendly in the build up to the upcoming Euro 2012. Despite the game being highly contested, the Three Lions went on to edge past their opponents, as Ashley Young managed to find the back of the net to give his side the win.
The team is now set to take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 build on their performance against Norway, they could go on and win that game as well.
Young seems to be happy with his contribution to the team and he also doesn’t seem to have any problems with his new attacking partners.
The forward is reported to have said: “We are preparing for the Euros now, and this game and next week's game is about preparing the right way”
“The manager has come in and changed a few things. It's only been a few days, but I think it worked out there tonight.”
He then went on to talk about how he felt playing alongside Andy Carroll, as he went on to add: “It went well, we’ve been working on it in training. There were a few good combinations, and it worked with the goal which is always nice to get.”
Despite scoring the winner, Young doesn’t want to take any chances just yet. He has admitted that he likes how he played, but he won’t be starting to rest just yet since he wants to impress Hodgson week in and week out.
Young is well aware of the fact that Hodgson picks the team and for that very reason he doesn’t want to give the manager any reason to avoid picking him in the team’s starting eleven.
The Red Devils attacker then ended by adding: “It's up to the manager [to pick the side], not down to me”
The England international then admitted that he was hopeful of making the team, as he stated:
“I’ve got to keep putting in performances that I have done before tonight, but we’ll see what happens when it comes to the Euros.”
