Young goal keeper Jan Sebek leaves Chelsea for FK Jablonec, Hamburg deny Blues offer for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eljero-Elia-c12318
Jan Sebek, the 20-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Czech-Republic-c2882 under-21 international, has not extended his contract with Chelsea and has left Stamford Bridge as a free agent.
The young goal keeper was set to be long-term replacement for current first choice goal keeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petr-Cech-c29837.
Despite settling in well at Stamford Bridge, Sebek wished to return to his country and he has done exactly that, signing a deal with FK Jablonec.
The player’s agent revealed the young goal keeper felt he had a better chance at developing as a player in the Czech Republic.
Sebek’s agent said while speaking to reporters:
“For Jan it was a great experience to be at Chelsea.
He has played regularly for the reserve team and a few times he has been involved with the first team and taken part in training sessions.”
Sebek leaves the London club after four years of having played at the Blues youth academy and the reserve team.
His representative admitted that his client felt he had better playing opportunities at Jablonec than with the Blues, which is why he had decided on the move.
“The time has now come for him to attract more attention.
He is bound to be an important member of the Czech U21 side and that is why we have decided to go with Jablonec, a side that traditionally gives young players an opportunity to shine.”
It was after Sebek’s departure that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 turned their attention towards another young goal keeper, Genk’s 19-year-old stopper, Thibaut Courtois.
While Courtois claimed Chelsea had shown interest, the Blues are yet to make an official offer for the Belgian international.
The same case is with Eljero Elia, the 24-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485 winger, who is currently on Chelsea’s radar but no offer has been made.
The Dutch international is reportedly unhappy with the Bundesliga side and is looking for a move away, despite claims that he wishes to stay with Hamburg.
A host of English Premier League sides are keeping an eye on the quick paced http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 forward, who is worth an estimated €20 million.
Hamburg are interested in retaining the services of Elia and have denied any offer from Chelsea or any other side in wake of the rumours.
A spokesman from the club said:
“There is definitely no offer for Eljero Elia, neither from Chelsea nor from another club.
We are planning for the upcoming season with this player.”
Elia joined Hamburg in the summer of 2009 from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 for a fee of €8.9 million and up until now has gone on to make 58 appearances in all competitions, scoring 8 goals and providing 11 assists.
