Young pacers just do their job, they don't love it, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Courtney-Andrew-Walsh-c51620 – Cricket News Update
The former legendry West Indian pacer, Courtney Walsh, opines that young fast bowlers of this era take bowling merely as a job and do not love it, therefore, they are unable to deliver long spells on the field.
Walsh voiced his views in an exclusive interview with The Mid Day, an Indian newspaper, yesterday.
The legend argued that bowlers have taken to the limited-over format of the game, and this trend has rendered them unable to perform for prolonged periods.
Furthermore, he avowed that modern day cricketers are unaware of how to take care of their physical fitness, diet and health, as they embark upon abundant cricket for the sake of money.
Like many other cricket experts, he also regarded the overdose of the game as a big threat to the longevity and performances of bowlers.
Condemning the business-oriented approach towards the game, he stated that a sportsman could never succeed and thrive unless he had passion and love for it.
Apart from airing these thoughts, the former pacer also shared some memories of his time in the national side. He revealed that he used to enjoy running and bowling for many hours a day. He claimed that he tried to bowl each and every day during his cricket
career.
Walsh also expressed the desire to coach the Windies in future, and benefit his former team with his rich experience. The 48-year-old is currently in India, coaching http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 Under-19 team for the upcoming quadrangular tournament, which includes junior
teams of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 as well.
On a question about his experience as a coach, he disclosed that he was learning the pros and cons of this job in order to gain success in this field as well.
The legend also hailed International Cricket Council’s decision to implement the use of two balls in the ODI cricket, claiming that it would give an edge to the seamers, but not on the Indian wickets which are spin-oriented.
During 17 years of his International career, Walsh played 132 Test and 205 ODI games for the Caribbean.
